Once you’ve worked or interacted with Tom, you understand what it means to be inspired and motivated. Tom was considered an institution in the world of studio production for new PAs, like myself. He was always extremely approachable and was willing to do what other outstanding producers couldn't. He shared wisdom and taught. To him, knowledge and development was considered an integral right of new employees, not something to be earned after years' of sacrifice. He has transformed this skill into a new form, mentoring those such as myself who find themselves at a crossroads in their career. I reached out to Tom when I found myself nearly paralyzed with fear to ask for help. He talked/coached me through it and since our conversation, I have found it much easier to navigate that uncertain emotion of "what if?"

Tom is one of the most dedicated, passionate, and inspirational leaders I’ve ever had the privilege to work with.  As a young kid fresh out of school and just starting my career in the world of production, Tom was the mentor that every new employee would be lucky to have.  He has a unique way of teaching and fostering creative and professional growth while simultaneously empowering his mentees to achieve independently.  The lessons I learned from years of working with Tom at ESPN helped shape me and so many of my contemporaries into the successful leaders we are today.

In a fast paced and highly stressful daily environment full of content producers often with an age gap of 30 years plus, Tom was always out in front as a champion to diversity. Diversity of thought. Diversity of skills. Diversity of culture, region and life itself. In real world examples, what that results in is someone that everyone can talk to. Tom was one of the first producers to see and push the growth in the space of digital production which has now taken off. But while others were doubtful and even saying that it wouldn't take off, Tom was pushing to continue to move the needle to get the trials and learns out of the way so we were ready for the boom. We did and he was there every step of the way to support the mission. Top to bottom, working on any team that Tom Roche is on is a benefit at the highest level. 

Tom is a wonderfully welcoming, respectful and genuine presence. Tom attacks any task with energy and excitement, and never skips a beat when facing any obstacles that arise. He has the unique ability to instill confidence in those that he works with, creating a team environment in which he is a tremendous leader.
